Graham was able to take a few days off work and while the girls were in school we went out on our first snow shoeing adventure. So much fun!
We headed out just after sunrise and hiked up about 20 minutes on the Spaulding Meadows trail to reach the first meadow. What a view. You can just see Lynn Canal in the distance.
A shot of the trail.
These super cool ice structures on the branches are called hoarfrost.
Once we got to the first meadow we donned our snow shoes and off we went. I totally felt like Bigfoot the whole time, traipsing around the meadow.
Beautiful views of Lynn Canal from the meadow, too. You can just see downtown Juneau in the distance.
After we were done snow shoeing we decided to keep hiking just a bit toward the John Muir cabin. We made it about 2 miles before running out of time and having to turn back but some beautiful untouched snow and scenes from about 1400 feet up.
